UnlimiTech, a Tokyo-based startup aiming to digitize legacy workflows in the manufacturing sector, announced today the completion of a 75 million yen ($500,000) funding round. The capital injection was structured through a combination of third-party allotments, including J-KISS type stock acquisition rights, and debt financing. The round saw participation from domestic venture capital, Mizuho Bank, and the Japan Finance Corporation (JFC).
Addressing the Demographic Cliff in Manufacturing
The funding comes at a critical juncture for Japan’s industrial sector, which faces an existential threat from the country’s shrinking workforce. UnlimiTech identifies a specific, pervasive bottleneck: the “Excel Macro Dependency.” For decades, operational efficiency in Japanese factories has relied on complex, custom-built Excel macros and manual processes maintained by veteran employees.
As these skilled workers retire—a phenomenon accelerating due to Japan’s aging demographic—this institutional knowledge risks becoming a “black box,” inaccessible to younger staff and impossible to maintain. UnlimiTech aims to prevent this loss of know-how, often referred to as the “technology succession wall,” by converting it into accessible digital assets.
The Solution: DataFlow AI
Proceeds from the financing will support the commercial rollout and further development of “DataFlow AI,” a next-generation workflow tool utilizing generative AI. The platform features a natural language interface that allows users to perform complex data processing and visualization simply by issuing chat-based instructions, effectively bypassing the need for specialized coding knowledge.
According to the company, pilot programs with several manufacturers have already demonstrated significant reductions in man-hours. The company plans to officially launch the service this month, January 2026, utilizing the fresh capital to hire domain experts and engineers to refine the AI’s ability to interpret complex, industry-specific logic.
Executive Commentary
“Japan’s manufacturing floor is filled with world-class wisdom, but much of it is trapped in personalized Excel sheets and unmaintainable macros,” said Takayuki Nakagawa, Representative Director of UnlimiTech. “Our mission is to use the power of natural language processing to unearth this dormant wisdom and transform it into a digital asset that anyone can utilize. With this new financial structure, we are ready to accelerate our challenge to push Japanese manufacturing competitiveness back to a global top-tier level.”
